Ashwin Mallipatna Pediatric ophthalmologist at Narayana Nethralaya in Bangalore, India

Dr. Ashwin C Mallipatna is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Narayana Nethralaya in Bangalore. After his undergraduation and postgraduation at St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, he trained at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He further specialized his interest in the care of children with retinoblastoma, and trained specifically in this for an additional fellowship year with Dr. Brenda Gallie in the university of Toronto. During his fellowship, he was awarded the “Student Humanitarian Award” for his dedication to patient care. He has many peer-reviewed publications to his credit, including a key publication on Periocular Injections of Topotecan in the Management of Retinoblastoma recognized by F1000Prime as a publication that would change preferred practice patterns. He is currently a lead in the 8th Edition of the AJCC classification system for retinoblastoma, expressing a keen interest in developing uniformity in the classification of retinoblastoma. His research interests are in the early detection of retinoblastoma.
