  • 1. Where will the meeting be held ?
  • The 2016 NGBT meeting will be held in the Le Meridien convention center, Cochin, India.
  • 2. When will the meeting start and end ?
  • The 2016 NGBT meeting will start on Oct 3rd and end on Oct 5th, 2016. The sessions will start at 9:00 am and end at 6:00 pm. We expect to have cultural events and confernece dinner on Oct 3rd and/or Oct 4th from 6:30pm until 10:00pm.
  • 3. How do I register and what will the registration fees cover ?
  • The registration fees, the relevant categories and the entitlements can be found on the Registration page.
  • 4. Can I register on-site?
  • Yes it is possible to do spot registration but you will be required to make payment either through credit card or cash. We strongly recommend that you register online before the early registrstion deadline to save and also avoid waiting in line at the venue.
  • 5. My spouse or partner would like to attend the meetings dinner/lunch etc. is this possible ?
  • Yes, an optional accompanying person registration is available. Please visit the Registration page for relevant information.
  • 6. Is there funding to help with travel and registration costs?
  • There are a number of awards and travel grants available to successful abstract student authors, please view the relevant information and criteria here.
  • 7. Can I cancel my registration and get the refund?
  • Cancellation requests can be made by sending an email to ngbt2016@sgrf.org.in. Requests for cancellation received by:
    • August 29th, 2016 11:59pm IST will get an 80% of the total fee paid refunded.
    • After August 29th, 2016 but before Sep 19th, 2016 11:59pm IST will get a 50% of the total fee paid refunded.
    • Request after Sep 19th, 2016 11:59pm IST will not get a refund (non-refundable).
    Please notes refunds will be issued after the conclusion of the meeting in October and will make every effort to get you refund by Oct 30th, 2016.
  • 8. Do I need to submit an abstract to attend the meeting ?
  • Abstract submission is not required (though encouraged for poster presentations). You can register without submitting an abstract.
  • 9. Do you accept encore abstracts?
  • Yes, you can. However you must disclose this information during the submission process.
  • 10. I wish to speak at the meeting, how and to whom do I send my proposal/abstract ?
  • If you are not an invited speaker but wish to be considered for a speaking slot, please send your proposal/abstract (300 words) to ngbt2016@sgrf.org.in. We will send it to the organizing committee for evaluation and respond with their recommendations. We have a limited number of spots for speakers selected from the abstracts submitted and hence only abstract that are able to convey the scientific depth and findings from the work are likely to be selected.
  • 11. I submitted an abstract but need to change or replace it, what do I do?
  • Please send us an email to ngbt2016@sgrf.org.in. and we will assist you. Changes to the abstract after Sep 10th may not be possible, but will do our best to accommodate your request.
  • 12. My abstract has been accepted but I cannot attend, what do I do?
  • Please let us know by sending an email to ngbt2016@sgrf.org.in. We can mark your abstract as withdrawn. Please note that the cancellation policy described above (in No. 7) will still apply for fee refund.
  • 13. Will I receive a Certificate of Attendance?
  • Yes, a Certificate of Attendance will be given to you after the meeting.
  • 14. What are my accommodation options ?
  • Please refer to the information about accommodation options in our website. We have listed option for accommodation at varying price ranges offerred by OYO Rooms and other hospitality services. You can get in touch with them directly to make arrangements. The conference will be held at Le Meridien Conference Center in Cochi, India. SGRF is not responsbile for the accommodation arrangements you make through OYO Rooms or other hospitality partners.
    Le Meridien has hotel rooms adjacent to the confernence venue. Should you wish to book rooms at Le Meridien, you can either call the hotel directly or get in touch with us for assistance (ngbt2016@sgrf.org.in.).
  • 15. I need a conference invitation letter – can you help?
  • Confernece staff can send you an inviation letter. Please send a an eamil request to ngbt2016@sgrf.org.in.
  • 16. I am an international participant, do I need a visa to attend the meeting ?
  • If you are not an Indian national and will be traveling from overseas to attend the meeting you likely need a visa. Conference website has information on obtaining visa. If you are solely visiting India for the meeting you may obtain a “Conference Visa”. However, recently the government of India has introduced e-Visa for nationals of many countries for tourism and casual business purposes. Please check www.indianvisaonline.gov.in for information and how to apply.
  • 17. What is closest airport/train station to the conference venue ?
  • Cochin (Kochi) international airport is the closest airport to the Le Meridien convention center (the conference venue). Many international flights arrive in Cochin. If you arrive at other international airports within India (e.g: Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad) you can take a domestics flight to arrive at the Cochin airport. To reserve airline tickets within India you may use cleartrip.com or makemytrip.com as they offer more domestic flight choices.   • 18. How do it get to the conference venue or hotel from the airport ?
  • Cochin (Kochi) international airport has pre-paid taxi services. Please purchse a voucher as you get out of the airport and have the driver take you to your hotel or confernce venue. If you are an invited speaker the organizers will send you relevant information directly.
  • 19. Do I need to exchange currency ? Are credit cards accepted widely in India ?
  • India Rupees (INR) is the currency used in India. It is advised that you exchange ~100-300 USD worth of money to INR at the airport. You can exchange money at the hotel (Le Meridien) but the exchange rates may not be ideal. Currently 1 USD will fetch you ~63-65 INR.
    Credits cards are widely accepted. You will be able to use your credit card for payments at Le Meridien and similar class of hotels. Please make sure you notify your bank or credit card issuer about your travel so they do not block you card when you try to use it in India. Several credit card companies charge a foreign transaction fee and you may wish to check with your credit card company before using your card.
  • 20. Do I need to bring an international adapter ?
  • Power (electricity) shortage is a problem in parts of India - typically hotels in the Le Meridien class and a majority of the businesses will have backup power. India uses 230V, 50Hz power outlets. Plan to bring appropriate voltage convertors and adapters as you see fit.
